The Morning Cup column, Seeing Your Child, has been podcasted and can be listened to on iTunes.  In this podcast you are reminded of the ways you can see your child, moment by moment.  Of course, if gifted with sight you see them.  But to really see — to really know — your child, it can be helpful to practice mindful awareness and see them with eyes that are open to the mystery of the moment, of their changing nature, and of who they are.  Doing so, you may come to a deeper knowing of yourself.

For those of you fortunate enough to be in Los Angeles on January 31, 2009, a wonderful mindfulness event for parents will be conducted by Dan Siegel and Diana Winston at the UCLA Neuroscience Research Building Auditorium.  The program, titled, “Mindfulness, Parenting and the Brain,” runs from 9:00-1:00.  I have studied with Dan Siegel who is a terrific teacher and who has contributed a great deal to the area of parenting and, more recently, added much insight into the relationship between mindfulness and parenting.  The neuroscience dimension to which he adds a special expertise makes this material all the more exciting and practical.  Click here to read a flyer of the event.
